Champagne for the mind #14: Rituals are impactful.
Rituals have meaning. We can do them for ourselves or/and for others. The clearer our intentions are, the more coherent our wishes will form our path. People might suggest that it is a waste of time and that there is no scientific proof for its result. How would, for example, sitting under a tree and singing wishes help others?
My experience is different. Rituals unite. They strengthen our intentions and create belonging. My heart opens up only when I hear the first deep mumbling sounds of one Buddhist ritual, the so-called Kagyu Monlam, which I have followed for many years. Beautiful moments in India arise, having practiced with thousands of people towards the end of the year under the Bodhi tree in Bodhgaya, India. The common goal for centuries: meditate and grow for the benefit of all beings.
The impressions we create in our minds always have an effect. It is not magic; it just takes time until the seeds and the steady good motivation grow into flowers.
What rituals are dear to you? For which do you take time? Creating a birthday table? Decorating the house for Christmas? Dancing wildly on the first of May? Whatever rituals you follow, the more aware you are of the reason behind the ritual, the more impact it will have.
